... John and Abigail...

My husband and kids gave me the John Adams series from HBO for my birthday last September...It's a long series and I had been too preoccupied to watch it...until last weekend.
We watched disc one and two and there's one more to go. I am a history buff who is totally in love with the colonial period and extremely patriotic. I think I must have been a colonial person in another life...Anyway, this series makes you feel like you are there in the 1700's ...it's very realistic. The homes are sparse but beautifully decorated and the characters are very genteel...Manners were taught and followed in that period, which is great... The poor hygiene though would probably trip me up because I'm used to the scent of Dove soap and shampoo and I don't know if my delicate senses could deal with that issue!!!...And coming from this wonderful "cushy" time period we live in would make trying to live back in theirs very hard... It's perfectly fine to romanticize and daydream though...

I am currently reading a book about George Washington but I have a couple of books about John and Abigail Adams lined up next. This cold and sometimes nasty weather here has made the movies and books a very cozy way to spend the day...Along with sewing, of course!!
My humble thanks for your visit...
Take Care,
Tina

I LOVE the John Adams movie, isn't it awesome?

I think that film made me most thankful for anesthesia. I cannot fathom a breast removal while awake with no pain killers. Of all the modern conveniences we have, that's the one thing I don't think I could stand do be without on a trip back in time. That, and a nose plug.

Tina ~~ I loved the John Adams movie, I even bought the sound track DVD. I too loved all the period dress, the homes, the furnishings...the speech, and manners. My wish would be a few days of time travel to just pop in and visit once and awhile.. would you care to join me if and when I can figure it out. lol
