~ Keeping Room ~

Here are a few pictures of my newly arranged Keeping Room... This is where I go to sit and solve problems or browse through magazines...I also cut all my dolls out here and then carry them all the way up to the attic to sew...It's just more relaxing in this room for some reason...The room has two doors so I can close them and have peace and quiet...kind of...

Here's a cozy little corner...there's a large grandfather clock on the side that my son moved for me...He was such a help... I couldn't have moved a couple of these pieces without him!!

Finally, this is one of the treasures that I found while antiquing in the upper Shenandoah Valley...It's so nice and worn...The lid has wear and tear from much use... I have plenty of sewing supplies to fill it with!!

~ Attack Cat-to the Rescue ~

Today we had a buzzard swoop into one of our trees outside...They are so large and you rarely see one so close-up ...unless you are roadkill or something bad...So this was a great surprise and a big event for a sleepy Sunday afternoon ...

After running for the camera, I started trying to get shots of the bird...I was so wrapped up on the buzzard shots that I didn't at first notice the attack cat below at the base of the tree...This is our sweet "Yard Kitty"...She is an outside cat that lived here long before we moved here...We befriended her and adopted her and love her dearly ... As you can see, she is very protective of her territory...

I tried to snap as many shots as I could while Yard Kitty had him treed...I'm very amazed at just how long he stayed perched there...At one point, I guess he knew he was in her sights and thought it best to high tail it out of there...

Our Yard Kitty watched him fly away, she was so brave and may have gone up there after him, if provoked...Bravery knows no bounds... It's strange how my camera took this last shot...She looks so angelic while standing her ground...She is our hero!

Tina

~ Scraps and Threads ~

This week I have made a little time to spend in the attic sewing room. Like clockwork, there's the urge to try to get a quilt together... However, I have decided to set my sights smaller this time...
In the past, I have had bed quilts as my goal and I have a portion of three quilts waiting to be completed!! ... but this year, I am trying for a lap quilt which is much smaller ...It requires fewer squares and won't be so daunting to quilt together ...This work in progress has lots of blues and browns, this girls favorite colors!
I have a much cleaner and neater room to sew in thanks to my son, Jacob...He spent most of the weekend organizing and color coding all of the shelves...except for my worktable, full of fabrics for THE latest quilt ambitions...Everything looks so nice and I can actually move around freely now...All this for one jacket from Hollister!!...It's well worth it :0)

Finally, my little shadow has her very own place to wait for me as I cut and sew away the afternoon...a nice warm pallette in front of the window to soak up all the suns rays...no wonder
the purring is so loud over there!!

~ Great Show! ~

I just got back from Virginia late yesterday...I had such a great time visiting home and shopping for antiques!! The shopping trip was fabulous and I'll have to save my money for the next trip in July...I saw way too many things and I had to start budgeting my funds...I hate that!!

The "Winter in the Valley" show was great!! It was so nice to meet old friends and new ones too...I want to thank everyone that stopped by...It was so nice to meet you all !... A big thanks also goes to Lori from Notforgotten farm for the wonderful heart necklace that she gifted me...I love it ! She is so talented and her work is exquisite!! ~ Packed for Virginia ~

Everything is finished and packed...ready to go to Virginia...for the Fishersville show!!

The show is on Saturday but I'm leaving a couple of days early so that I can head back up into the Shenandoah Valley area for a fun day of shopping and sightseeing with my sweet mama ...We had such a great time up there last December and we found a few great antique/primitive shops that I have got to see again!! The area is so beautiful too. It's filled with Civil War battle sites and beautiful old log cabins and old colonial houses...I can't wait to get back up there and shop and take pictures... and shop...that's all I can think about!

***

On a sad note, I will have to leave my hubby, girl and precious kitty...the latter will be missed greatly because she is the baby(kitty) of the house and the apple of my eye...They will have to take extra special good care of her... I know that she will miss her mama terribly...but mama has got to go antiquing!!!

~ Please drop by and see me at the Fishersville show if you are in the area ~
