...Peek- A - Boo...

Have you ever noticed that when you play games with cats...You are the one that does all the work?! I never realized this until I was looking at this little game of Peek-a-Boo that I played this week...I ran everywhere to get the right angle , clicking my fingers and trying to get her attention...All the while, it looks as if she could care less about the baby talk and noise that was coming from my direction... Oh, until I got right up in her face and got the annoyed look above...

... Wytches Garden ...

Whilst watering "My Precious", I am always watchful of my surroundings...The last thing I want to do is step on a freakin snake! So I look around and down before taking each step... insuring a longer life...You see, I would die of fright if I got too close to a snake ... He wouldn't actually have to bite me ... Anyway, I have noticed quite a few creatures who always seem to be watching me water that darling little coneflower of mine ... I normally wouldn't appreciate all of this attention from so many creepy creatures. However, I am getting all wrapped up in Fall and Halloween right now ... so it's great!!
~ I just think of them as my Wytches Garden... ~

... Catching Fall...

It's that time of year when I can see the seasons start to change and the calendar tells me we are well into mid-summer... I love Fall and cannot wait for it's return. I'm so anxious for the Fall magazines and the seasonal flavors from Coffeemate ( yes, I said that)...anything I can find...
***
I happened to find this squash at a farmers market the other day...It was the closest thing I could get to a pumpkin...so I brought it home!! I found the perfect spot for it on the mantel... Soon I'll deck out the house in its Fall/Colonial charm... but this will do for now!
***
Sadly though, its back to reality...scorching heat and unbearable humidity!!

... My Precious ...

You are looking at an ordinary, everyday coneflower nothing special about it but for me it's ... "My Precious". After returning home from the hospital a few weeks ago, I was sitting in my chair thinking and dozing in random order... Suddenly an idea came to me! I usually visualize my ideas so I was dreamily picturing(in my mind) the perfect spot for a coneflower in the yard. I love coneflowers and unfortunately I have killed so many in the past trying to plant them somewhere that they didn't want to be... However, I have never given up hope because I gotta have one!... It's almost like an obsession...
***
Luckily, this time I figured out THE perfect spot (I hope)... and naturally, I had to buy a coneflower right away so I immediately started looking the next day. I thought it would be a cinch...This is summer and coneflowers are definitely a summer flower... so no problem... Well, I became a weekly visitor at Lowes for the past few weeks...asking and searching and hoping... with no luck... Until that fateful day (I forget the date), I preyed upon this one...the last one they had... Oh joyous day!!
***
Ever since its arrival , I have been so happy. This coneflower has been pampered and babied for this last wonderful week that it has been in my world...I go out and water it in the morning and in the evening...faithfully. I know I will never be thanked or appreciated... Just having it live though is enough thanks for me... really!!

...The Wytch Factory...

Whew, will this heat wave ever end? Another hot forecast is predicted for the entire week and I'm getting a little sick and tired of my make-up melting every time I go anywhere!! To make it even more unbearable, the condenser motor wore out on the AC unit Saturday morning so we had to rough it for a couple days with no relief...The fans were no help because they just blew out hot air...it was miserable here!! Now, on a happy note...I just had it fixed today so I'll have to come to grips with the trauma of the past few days...Venting a little always seems to help though!!
***
There's only one benefit to all of this heat...it bakes all my tea-dyed items to a crispy brown shade and in no time at all ... That's what I have been up to lately...painting and sun-baking... A few more steps and I'll have lots of wytches on my hands. I'll be listing on "Early Work Mercantile" on the 15th. I have a beautiful Pumpkin Wytch to unveil... so don't forget to look!!!
I'm also busily working on Fall items for the upcoming show at Lori's ~ Notforgotten Farm ~ in mid- September...I hope you can be there too!!

...Happy Fourth!!! ...

Time to pull the flags out front and center. I love my flags and I keep them in crocks throughout the year...even during Christmastime!!... However, every July they become the main focus and add the perfect touch to my primitive arrangements. Here are a few samplings of the house all decked out in Old Glory...

Hoping you have a safe and happy Fourth of July!!!
