...Home Sweet Home...

It has become a tradition these last few years to go to my parents for Thanksgiving. It's so nice to have everybody around for a few days. We all enjoy being together and get along great as long as there are no political discussions!! I am the black sheep of the family with totally opposite views...Thankfully we managed to steer clear of that stuff and had a great time...
***
While I'm visiting, I have to go to as many primitive shops in the area as I can...Mama and I make a day of running up and down the Shenandoah valley trying to visit as many stores as humanly possible...We always come home worn out and unable to move but it's all worth it!! Primitive shops are hard to find here in my neck of the woods(NC)...unfortunately...
***
We have just pulled out the Christmas decorations here and it looks like that's what I'll dive into tomorrow...I would love to get some pictures posted when I'm done...I'm also very anxious to get some new things listed on ebay, my website and etsy...finally!! If only my hands could keep up with my mind...

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

...On the Move...

Time never sits still and at this time of the year, neither do I...There always seems to be one last thing to take care of or one last thing that I totally forgot about...it's usually the latter!!
***
I have listed one of my very primitive santas on ebay tonight...I have a couple more winter items to list there over the next few weeks then it's time to start thinking of primitive little cottontails...hard to believe!!
***
I also wanted to say that I will be taking a few days off around Thanksgiving to regurgitate...I mean recuperate...just seeing if you're paying attention!! Hopefully I can shake this cold that I just picked up and get a little of my energy back...
***
Oh, we found a grasshopper outside the window today!

...New Moon Review...

Yes, I am one of the "Twilight-Moms". My daughter found the series before the movies went into production and I managed to scarf them all down last year...They are very addicting and hard to put down! It's so exciting to see them turned into movies too...I went through the "Harry Potter" craze and "The Lord of the Rings" uproar too...I never thought another book/movie /series would come around that would top them...until now...
***

I went to the matinee with the family today. Here's my humble opinion, this movie was so much better than the first one...I know we are dealing with vampires and werewolves in this book so ...the plot thickens! I just think this movie was told in a less confusing way and is truer to the book...it's not corny at all...I love it and give it 5 stars...on a scale of 5 stars, that is....!!

Oh, I just want to ad: Bella's crazy...I would pick Jacob !! I'm an animal lover...you see...

...A Little Kitty Tale...

This is truly worthy of a post... Let me explain my daily ritual ... I open all my shades every morning, feed my kitties and get my daughter off to school...After that, I have to open my blinds halfway in my office and the right side of the house...My little spotted kitty E.B. expects this everyday...She watches bugs and birds and to her it's better than television...
***
While doing this , I had no idea that E.B. had struck up a friendship with a little lizard that lives in the bush outside. I noticed how focused she was on the windowsill one day and found this little lizard sunning himself ....Day after day (after that) we would watch for him and he would appear and lay on the windowsill... We have named him"Gecko", even though he's not one, he just looks like the little gecko on T.V.! He knows we are looking at him because he tilts his head and looks at us...He's our daily event...That's why I believe this is a true friendship...
***
My little kitty has finally made a friend outside the family. I encourage these types of friendships and will open the blinds for her everyday...These types of friends are few and far between and we should hold on to our friends for as long as possible...I will just never invite him in to play... I hope she understands!!

...Website and Webbed Feet...

According to the weather report, we are in for a lot of rain over the next few days. "Ida" is coming this way and we're getting a nor'easter tomorrow sitting off the east coast...Too bad the temps aren't a wee bit colder...can you imagine the snowfall totals?!... Unfortunately, it's all rain...quack, quack, quack....

...The Orkin Man Cometh...

Let me just start by saying...North Carolina has to be the buggiest state I've ever lived in!! I have lived in quite a few states over the years but never faced the armies of bugs I am dealing with here...I think it's because the temps never stay low enough in the winter to totally kill off the little pests and they just keep procreating...Recently I have found myself in a no-win situation with fleas....No matter how many "bombs" I would put off or how many boxes of Frontline I would buy, I would always find fleas in my carpet and on my kitties...Well, today I called in the big boys and I'm feeling a lot better. I have a nice Orkin man named "Rob" who came armed with an arsenal of bug sprays and foggers and has lifted a weight off my shoulders...Thank you "Rob" from the bottom of my heart!
***
While "Rob" was busy spraying my house from top to bottom ~ inside and out, I spent the afternoon on the deck with three very upset housecats in crates...It was not a very productive day but well worth the inconvenience...While outside, I noticed this bush with these beautiful berries~ a last shot of color before winter ... Joy is in the simple things in life...until next time...

... Mantle Mania ...

With another Halloween over and gone...It's time to pull out the turkeys and rearrange the pumpkins...Pumpkins play a dual role in the fall. When you place them beside a witch ~they complete the scare. However, when you place them beside your turkey, they make you feel warm inside and envision a wonderful Thanksgiving meal...they are the very backbone of the fall season...I keep mine for as long as possible...
***
I have been very busy pulling out my late fall decorations and rearranging the mantle...I must confess, mantles are my favorite and that's probably why you see so many pictures of mine throughout the year!...I love how my EAL mags always show the mantle when photographing a room...It represents the importance of the room because it's where everyone would gather around in the heart of winters harshness to keep warm or eat...Nowadays it's just a wonderful little spot to convey the feeling you want when you enter the room...I usually rearrange mine several times before I get it right...I like them simple and balanced...Yes, I take it this seriously!!!

....Whoooo....Whoooo...

Okay, here's where you're gonna think I'm off my rocker...I was born and raised in the country until I met and fell in love with my hubby and moved away...He is a city boy and he has drug me around these great states with his various jobs...But let's get back to the heart of this posting, I grew up in the country and I love nature and astrology and I have a great respect for all of it ...However, all of this has no effect on my excitable nature...I get so excited by the ordinary...I'm just very demonstrative( I point and jump a lot) and overjoyed at the little things in life and nature...
***
We live in a wooded area and I have known that we have an owl here...I've thought I heard him before and I have strained my ears many times trying to hear him outside our closed home...Tonight I finally got it right and snuck out on the screened porch to listen...Nothing is greater than hearing that peaceful sound...All I could think about was how in the early days, this must have been no big deal...It's such a huge deal now because the woods and farmlands are slowly disappearing to developments and these creatures don't have the free reign that they used to ...Hearing him hoot in the trees behind our house has made my evening~ it was such a thrill! ...I hope he lives back there somewhere!!...See~ I told ya ~ I just get tooo excited!!
