..... EB Missed Me.....

We just got home from a quiet and relaxing trip...it was over the river and through the woods just as the song says...we go 95N and cut across the mountains toward Lynchburg VA to my parents house...we have lived in several different directions in the past but this has to be the prettiest drive ever...there are many small towns and old farmhouses along the way and it's great to imagine what life would be like living in them...some little towns are so sleepy that you get drowsy driving through them!! No matter how many daydreams I have...I am always so happy and relieved when I walk through my door and see my kitties and my belongings safe and sound...There's no place like home!!

My little EB was a little timid when she saw us...she hasn't been left alone for this length of time since we got her...In fact, it was last year at this time (Thanksgiving) that we brought her home with us after a visit to my parents...time flies and kitties grow and I'm so happy to have her...

Sorry for being so mushy!!

I have been trying to recover today after throwing out my back...the kids helped me clean our "jungle" backyard yesterday...it took us about four hours of raking and hauling to clean the pine needles and leaves up...there was so much to do and cold weather is THE only incentive for me to get out there...I'm a paranoid snake-a-phobic and I saw two outside last summer...needless to say, I won't be doing anything out back in warm weather! Our goal is to clear the trees within the next couple of years and grow grass ...it looks so much better now and I'll enjoy it so much more once my poor aching back recovers!

....A Great Snowy Morning...

We woke up to a very nice surprise this morning....Snow!! Can you believe it? I'm still in shock!!

It was a beautiful sight to see and having been through some major snowstorms in Maryland, I couldn't help but relive a little nostalgia...It would have been nice to have some accumulation, we didn't ...but it did last for a few hours so we got to enjoy it!

Luckily, we did pick up a space heater in Raleigh yesterday and it takes the chill off of watching TV... However, I'll probably have to pick up another...they make them so small and compact now...It looks very impossible for the little fella to be able to heat the big room it's in!! One nice thing is that we will be getting mild again next week...that will help a lot!!

I was laughing to myself this morning after dropping the kids off at school in a heavy snow shower...It reminded me of the rudolph cartoon I watch every year. He has to convince Mother Nature and her two sons to change the weather in their regions for a day...All I could think of was Mr. White Christmas singing and dancing and promising Rudolph a day of snow in the South... I know it sounds silly but daydreams while driving usually are!!

..... Dang ...It's Cold!

Wooo Hooo...my teeth are chattering and my fingers feel like icicles!! What makes this weather worse is the fact that our heat pump on the first floor needs a new compressor. It's not top on the list of repairs right now.... My mission tomorrow when I head to Raleigh is to pick up a couple of space heaters to do the job...Luckily, we have another heat pump that heats the second floor so we don't freeze at night...This house is proving to be a money pit and we have been finding out the hard way...little by little...I love it but it's constantly surprising me!

Unfortunately, our cable TV hook-up is on the first floor...we have to turn the TV louder to drown out our teeth chattering! Okay, I'm exaggerating a little... Who would've ever thought the weather would be so cold here in the South? Growing up in southwestern VA was cold at times but I thought for sure that moving south of that would be warmer!

Well, I gotta get going...take my shower and settle in under twenty blankets to watch my favorite show...Ghost Hunters...Love it and never miss it... Jason and Grant are the best!!

Another week has went by and I have been trying hard to think of something new...create .... and sew...Some weeks flow and others are thrown together at the last minute...Dabbling in the primitive arts is very convenient and very forgiving too!!!

.... A Twilight Fan....

I have been reading this great book lately...so great I just had to mention it to y'all! I'm an avid reader...I read a little every night and go through lots of books every year...my main interest is historical fiction or fact...I always try to have one lined up...This time I had a little trouble finding something to "get into"...I had bought my teenage daughter this series over the past couple of years...one of her friends had discovered it a few years ago and told her how great it was...

My daughter loves the story and has been trying to get me to read it...I've always said no because I thought it was a more juvenile book...it's not...it's a really great love story about a young girl who falls in love with a vampire...she slowly learns about him throughout the book...

I started the first book a couple of days ago and I'm just about done...I think it's the type of story that any age can relate to and the author (Stephenie Myer) writes in a very clear manner so its so easy to follow...I just thought I would recommend it to my fellow readers out there...If you do happen to pick it up, you'll have to let me know what you think about it!!

Hello All! I am totally shocked at the amount of blogging I have been doing lately...At first. I wanted to blog every day then reality set in and I knew that that was irrational and highly impossible... I adjusted to reality and accepted my laziness...Now take a look at me!!...I'm really outdoing myself!!! I'm enjoying it while it lasts and it's cheaper than a therapist...not that I need one, mind you...

What a beautiful weekend...The Fall colors were bright and crisp and the weather was warm and comfortable here today...

I sent my daughter, Rebecca, out earlier to snap a few pictures...then I thought about the safety of my camera...I just grit my teeth and crossed my fingers!!

She did come back with some great shots...I thought I would post a couple of them...while it's still Fall!!

The black cat is one of our yard kitties..."Blackie"...not a very creative name...but very descriptive!!

......Be Ye Thankful......

Just thought I would post a little note to let everyone know I'm still here! I think I have been in the throes of post- election blues these last few days...I know, I have been all consumed by the election and for some reason this one really grabbed me in a chokehold. I promise from this moment on, I will pull myself up by my bootstraps and get on with my life...and quit bugging y'all with my sorrow and lamenting...I feel a little better already!

I am trying to put some things together for my unopened Etsy shop...going slow...I'm sure one day I will finally list something there! I am concentrating some on Ebay now...I have an explosive love-hate relationship with that place and don't know why I keep going back!! I will have more stuff up on my usual listing day~ Monday!!

The weekend is here and I hope you have a great one...I will be here at home with my family...taking it easy and letting the creative juices flow..."Home" is a very comforting place where you can hide from the world ...until Monday comes 'round once again !

Hands to Work...Ebay Tonight!

These last few days have been full of ups and downs with the upcoming election looming...I have to say I have become a news junkie in my "older" age...I also have to say that I don't know what balance there was in the media before the arrival of Fox News Channel!! Anyway, all we can do is pray that people weigh the issues and not the eloquence tomorrow...pray hard!!

I will be listing some new goodies tonight if all goes well. They are all very primitive and turned out great! I hope that you will hop over to Ebay and check them out...
