It's Cold Outside!
This is definitely a rude awakening! This is our second fall/winter here in NC. Last winter was very mild and people would jokingly tell us that they sometimes wore their shorts on Christmas day!
I had pretty much concluded from those stories that winter would be much like spring here and very comfortable...was I ever wrong! This week has been very chilly and the nighttime lows have been dipping near the freezing mark. I have been a little hesitant to turn the heat on because I love to push that transition time between seasons as far as I can...I do have to grudgingly admit that this morning...I temporarily turned the heat on. The family will be more than happy to wake up to a warm floor tomorrow morning!
One thing that hasn't escaped my notice this year is the beautiful foilage...being further south gives us a later peak in our season. Everything seems to be starting to change from shades of green to fiery orange...It's a beautiful time of the year!
November will be here this weekend...can you believe it?

What's Your Problem Ebay?
I just found out some new info today when I visited my ebay group...Ebay is still evolving into a monster...this just might be its mutated spawn!! It is nothing like the free enterprise system I joined a couple of years ago!!
The latest info is that you are not allowed to accept checks or money orders anymore. Everything has to go through Paypal so they can have a share of our money. I have been watching the way Paypal dips into my deposits and I don't like it!!
Last week I had a doll listing (she's relisted now) that they yanked without warning...all because I had my website address on my template!
I have an account with Etsy that I haven't been that serious about...I just wonder if anyone would follow me over there? From what I have learned, they are very fair...Please let me know if there's anyone out there who uses or shops Etsy... I really would like to hear your feedback...
Ebay has the advantage of name recognition right now...that's the only reason I have stayed with them...Hopefully something will come along and unseat them soon!!

Tina

Computer Battle

Just to let everyone know... I have been having a knock down drag out fight with my computer!
It always seems as if they are indestructable when you get them...you think, perfect computer...how did I pick such a gem? But slowly, over time, that gem becomes clogged with junk and cookies and germs...then your computer becomes the worst pain you could ever imagine. There's 4 of us here and we all share one home computer...I'd like to blame it on one of them visiting "I-tunes" or "youtube"...but you never know...
Anyway, without jinxing anything...I think we are reigning it under control...I couldn't even get onto this page a few days ago...I call that progress!! I hope things will improve computer-wise because I have ebay listings and a first time ever sale on my website...
Please bear with me if you are dealing with me at the present time...I have my husband working over time on this ...before we have to call the geeks!!

My Little Dumpling

I usually don't gush over the animals in my life...but I have to admit ...I'm a raving lunatic over kitty cats...Any cat I see is fair game for me...They are all so sweet and precious...I have three of my own and three adopted ones that lived here before we did...I can't let them starve, so I've become their meal ticket and they've become pretty lazy since I started feeding them...They used to hunt for birds and squirrels but now they just lay near their dish and wait...spoiled already!!
Anyway, I'd like to mention my most favorite-est kitty ever... "E.B."... (She was named this because I just happened to be watching an Egglands Best commercial on t.v. and they called the eggs "EB's"...well she was a scrawny little kitten at the time and the name just fit!)
My sister and daughter found her and brought her home even though I threatened both of them! I didn't want her and I really didn't like her spottiness...I just didn't want her...
Time has went by and we have bonded. She is almost like a shadow...following me into every room and jumping on my lap when she can. She watches me wash my face at night and is waiting by the door when I get out of the shower every morning...We even had our operations a day apart over the summer so we were both in pain at the same time!
She hasn't been around long but she has grown on me big time...everybody likes to remind me how I didn't want her and now how she's my joy. I don't know what I would do without "my bad self"...

Lamenting Woes...

I hate to say this but the amber glow of Fall is starting to wear off for me...More often than not, Fall speeds in and out of my life in a blur. However, this year is turning out to be a stressful time.
Between the economy, gas, food, and the upcoming election ~ I just feel overwhelmed!! I don't think I have ever had to pinch so many pennies in my adult life as I am doing now... I wish I could have a " do-over" to make life a little easier . I know, I just need to relax and chill. I'll probably wish I had never written such a negative blog in a few hours...I guess sometimes it's just better to get things off of your mind and into print...Hopefully when I click "publish post" my troubles will go too......only wishful thinking!! LOL
We are a resilient people here in the USA. I keep reminding myself that the period I love most in history...the Colonial period...was full of uncertianty, instability, and turmoil...It's beyond me why I would pick such an unhappy time but the people then were made of true grit. We have gotten a little soft in our society and a little too liberal in our thinking...but our spirit for doing the right thing is ingrained in our nature...that's what I am banking on and believing in...the world will continue to spin on its axle and we will continue to go about our mundane life no matter what happens...but I'm hoping for the best!!
Life, Liberty, and Freedom....

It's October!

Wow! Another month has come and gone...where was I? That's a question I like to ask myself when time scoots on by! It's definitely starting to look like fall is well in progress around here...
I've noticed leaves are starting to change on the road to Raleigh. Fall is most definitely my favorite time of the year...I am a fall baby (Sept 24) and when I was a youngin', I would wait anxiously for my birthday...when leaves would change and cooler temps would appear...Now, I'm not so anxious to have these birthdays come around. LOL...but I still love the season!!
Another thing I start to salivate over is the holiday magazines...Since I make dolls and primitives, my seasons have to start earlier than normal. Fall dolls actually start to take shape in July...and Christmas begins now...Anyway, I love the fall and winter magazines and I get very impatient waiting for them to appear on the newstands. Today I picked up Martha Stewarts October issue...it's great!! There is so much eye candy in this magazine!! I wish her other issues were as good as her holiday editions!! Sometimes she is a little too elite for my tastes...but not around the holidays ~ she seems to change her format a little...yeah!!
I am working on some Santas for ebay and the website...I hope to get them together and listed soon! Thanks so much for dropping by and reading my humble blog...I hope you will stop back by and be on the lookout for more primitive listings...coming soon!!
Take Care,
Tina
